7 Outdoor Home Projects For Instant Curb Appeal
Yes, achieving curb appeal can cost you thousands of dollars.
However, if you are on a tight budget and your home is in desperate need of instant curb appeal, there are some inexpensive, highly effective outdoor home projects that you can do.
1. PAINTING - Nothing has quite the benefit of paint. It is inexpensive and easily transforms and freshens up your home. It could be your entire house, or simply trim, the front door, or even your garage door/doors.
Exterior paint is one type of paint that you won't want to try to save money on. The more expensive paint will cover better, and last longer, therefore, saving you time and money in the long run - with your painting projects occurring fewer and farther in between.
2. MAILBOX - Install a charming new mailbox. If you have a mailbox on a post near the street, you could use mulch or gravel around the base.
Another idea, would be to create a border around the base with stones or bricks.
3. LIGHT FIXTURES - Replace your light fixtures. Attractive light fixtures are an important functional and decorative front door accessory.
4. WALKWAY - If you have a concrete walkway, you can brighten it up and also add visible interest by using contrasting red or brownish bricks, pavers, or decorative stone along each side of it.
If you have a stone or brick walkway, give it a good cleaning and be sure there are no weeds coming through the cracks.
5. PLANTS/SHRUBS/FLOWERS - Planting a tree will do wonders for your front lawn. Plant colorful flowers in a flower bed or two and add shrubs near your front porch.
If you happen to have issues with deer eating your beautiful flowers, as we do, use hanging flower pots on your porch or install window flower boxes.
6. PORCH DECORATIONS - Accessorize the front porch with seasonal decorations. For instance, flowers in the spring, summer and fall. A bail of hay, cornstalks, and pumpkins for the fall. As simple as this sounds, it is highly important to have a welcoming "feel" to your home, which is, of course, effective in establishing curb appeal.
7. HOUSE NUMBERS - Replace old rusty or shabby house numbers. Try to coordinate them with your light fixture finish.
These are just some examples of small, inexpensive outdoor home projects you can do that will have an immediate positive affect to your home's curb appeal.
