Hardwood Flooring - Beauty That Lasts A Lifetime
What is it about gleaming hardwood flooring?
When you walk into a room with hardwood floors, you just can't help but admire their beauty! They work perfectly with the country decor style. Just imagine the beautiful old farmhouses with wooden plank flooring.
Another wonderful feature is that they are versatile enough to be used with any decor style.
This is a wonderful benefit to any homeowner because you just never know if you'll ever have to sell your home, and this would make your home appealing to a potential buyer of any decor preference.
If you are considering hardwood for your home, whether replacing an old existing vinyl floor, old carpeting or deciding to have hardwood installed in a new home, you can be assured that they are not high maintenance, as suggested by many people.
Sweeping or vacuuming them regularly and occasionally cleaning them with a recommended wood floor cleaner to keep them gleaming is about all it takes.
There is also a misconception that they are somehow bad for the environment. This is not the case. In fact, hardwood flooring can, alot of times, be made from recycled wood.
One main reason I love our wood flooring is the fact that when you clean it, you KNOW it's clean, unlike carpeting, that collects dust, pet hair, and other irritants that wreak havoc on people suffering from sufferers.
WOOD FLOORING STYLES
Plank - Wood flooring that uses larger boards from 3" to 6". The wide boards look great when creating an old farmhouse style floor.
Strip - Wood flooring with boards in strips approximately 2" wide.
Parquet - Wood flooring set up in a pattern. The basic parquet pattern is similar to that of a checkerboard. You may create any number of patterns, when using this style.
SOME WOOD SPECIES EXAMPLES
Pine
Maple
Oak
Bamboo
Teak
Mesquite
Each type of wood brings with it, a unique grain pattern, and varying degrees of hardness.
When choosing the wood species for your floor, take into consideration how much traffic your hardwood flooring will receive. For instance, pine wood is a soft wood and might not work well in a high traffic area.
