The Best Sugar Cookies

sugar cookies

SUGAR COOKIES

2-1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup butter
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup milk

NOTE: You might want to double this recipe -especially if you have rather large cookie cutters.

Cream butter and sugar. Add beaten eggs, milk, and vanilla. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

You will need to add more flour, so the cookie dough will not be too sticky to roll out. However, use as little additional flour as possible.

Use flour on the surface that you will be using to roll the dough out. Roll thin, and cut into shapes.

Bake at 350 degrees for 7 - 8 minutes. *Important - be sure that the cookies are still white on top. They feel like a cake does when it is done. Do not allow them to get golden brown.

After cooled, icing them and decorate with sprinkles or colored sugar.

ICING

1/2 cup butter, softened
1 lb. confectioners sugar
1-1/2 tsps. vanilla
4 tbsps. milk
